Privacy Policy

Last updated August 2026

At ALS Assist, patient safety, dignity, and absolute data control are our core values. This Privacy Policy details how our mobile application processes and protects your information. Designed for individuals living with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), our application functions with an offline-first paradigm, ensuring your sensitive operational and health parameters never leave your device.

1. Camera & TrueDepth Sensor Processing

ALS Assist utilizes the front-facing camera and Apple's TrueDepth sensor system (where supported) to enable completely hands-free eye-gaze tracking and blink detection.

TrueDepth App Store Compliance Statement: All facial data coordinates processed via ARKit API tools are used exclusively to determine screen selection coordinates and double-blink events. This coordinate translation happens strictly in real-time, is kept locally in volatile memory, and is discarded instantly. None of this data is uploaded to external servers, shared with third parties, or used for advertising.

2. Eye-Gaze Tracking & Blink Detection

To provide smooth assistive communication, the application tracks eye coordinates to guide the selection cursor.

3. Medical ID & Caregiver Inputs

The Caregiver Portal allows standard touch setup of patient profile details for emergency accessibility.

Zero Server Access: All inputted Medical ID details, slideshow images, and keyboard phrases remain saved directly inside the iPad's sandboxed sqlite file system. We do not maintain user databases, servers, or cloud backups.

4. 100% Offline Processing

ALS Assist does not require internet access, server validation, registration accounts, or login keys.

5. No Selling or Sharing of Personal Data

Because ALS Assist operates entirely offline and does not harvest data, we do not—and can not—sell, trade, distribute, or license your personal information to third-party entities, advertising brokers, or analytics partners.

6. Data Storage & Deletion

All data, custom records, and local configurations are saved in the app's internal sandbox.

7. Third-Party Links

Our Clinical Resources section contains links to external platforms to help caregivers access support guidelines. We recommend reviewing the policies of these organisations, which operate independently:
